Welcome to Small Steps Preschool Boreham.
Our Preschool is managed by a parent committee who employ a fantastic team of highly motivated and qualified staff who are committed to delivering the highest standards of care to every child. We are a registered charity (Charity number 1146534) providing a high level of childcare to children in the community. Our ethos is that of a “not for profit” organisation, meaning that any profits made are ploughed back into the preschool for the benefit of the children in our care.
We were inspected by Ofsted in December 2019 and were delighted to be judged as “GOOD” in all areas. Please find our latest report here: Ofsted Report https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50135994
The team aims to provide a programme of experiences and play opportunities in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Our focus is on helping each individual child learn at their own pace, to help them become school ready. We are proud of our strong links with the local school and have created a programme of activities, both at the school and our own setting, to make the transition to school as smooth as possible. This includes ‘stay and play’ sessions, invitations to watch the annual Christmas play, as well as visits to preschool from the Headteacher, Reception teacher and SENCO lead.
Our outside provision includes a variety of areas right on our doorstep which is a benefit of being located in the Recreation Ground. We have a small enclosed, all-weather public play area, a hard standing basketball court, and we often go for a walk around the recreation ground on the track. We have developed our Forest School style provision at the Scout and Guide HQ which is entirely enclosed, behind the Village Hall, were we rent the space two afternoons a week to tend our vegetable patch, explore nature and have valuable outside experiences.
We work hard to develop strong, positive partnerships with our parents. Your child will be allocated a key worker who will work with you to settle your child and work on their all round, individual development while at Small Steps. Whilst at the Pre-school, we aim to communicate as effectively as possible about your child’s progression through whichever means you prefer. We run regular open mornings (local restrictions allowing) as an opportunity for you to learn how your child is progressing, although you are welcome to talk to any of the team at any time! We also use our Facebook page to post pictures from the setting on a regular basis, and post news letters to ensure everyone is aware of our activities and upcoming events. We view communication as a two way process so we welcome your thoughts at any time, suggestions regarding the setting as well as any concerns you may have regarding your child.
If you would like to enquire about placing your child at our setting or have any other questions we would love to hear from you, please contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
