Welcome to Small Steps Preschool Boreham.
Our Preschool is managed by a parent committee who employ a fantastic team of highly motivated and qualified staff who are committed to delivering the highest standards of care to every child. We are also a registered charity (Charity number 1146534) providing a high level of childcare to children in the community. Our ethos is that of a not for profit organisation meaning that any profits made are ploughed back into the preschool for the benefit of the children in our care. We were inspected by Ofsted in April 2016, and were delighted to be judged as good in all areas. Please find our latest report here: Ofsted Report
The team aims to provide a programme of play opportunities in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Our focus is on helping each individual child learn at their own rate to make them pre-school ready and we are proud of our strong links with the local school and programme of activities both at the school and our own setting to make the transition to school as smooth as possible. This includes ‘stay and play’ sessions, invitations to watch the annual Christmas play as well as visits to preschool from the headteacher, Reception teacher and SENCO lead.
Our outside provision includes a variety of areas right on our doorstep as is the benefit of being located in the Recreation Ground, we have a small enclosed public play area, a hard standing basketball court for when the ground outside is too muddy, we often go for a walk around the recreation ground on the all weather track and this year we have developed our Forest School style provision at the Scout and Guide HQ which is entirely enclosed, behind the Village Hall, we rent this space two afternoons a week to tend our vegetable patch amongst other things.
We work hard to develop strong, positive partnerships with our parents. Your child will be allocated a key worker who will work with you to settle your child and work on their development with you. Whilst at the nursery we aim to communicate as effectively as possible about your child’s progression. We run regular open mornings as an opportunity for you to learn how your child is progressing, although you are welcome to talk to any of the team at any time! We also use our facebook page to post pictures from the setting on a regular basis, and email news letters to ensure everyone is aware of our activities and upcoming events. We view communication as a two way process so also welcome your thoughts at any time, regarding the setting and any concerns you may have regarding your child.
If you would like to enquire about placing your child at our setting or have any other questions we would love to hear from you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
